The IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications (J-SAC) is now an electronically processed IEEE publication. In order to complete the production and final printing of your paper, your Guest Editor will need to receive your manuscript (along with two hard copies, all graphics, and supporting material) in the format described below.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:

• LaTex files should be submitted via email or CD mailed to the Guest Editor.
• Always send a hard copy that exactly matches the electronic source file.
• Provide separate graphics files in eps formats. Other formats (e.g. pdf, powerpoint, etc.) will not reproduce well in print.
• Limit your choice of fonts to the following: Symbol, Arial, Times New Roman.
• Color figures will be converted to black and white in the print version of the journal.
• Make sure that your files are self-contained, i.e., that there are no pointers to your system set-up. If you are using an IEEE template, be sure you follow the instructions for journals, not conferences.
• Check to insure your files are complete. Include the following: abstract, text, references, footnotes, biographies, author photos, graphics, and figure/table captions. Make sure graphics are placed in the appropriate place in the text, not at the end of the paper.
• If possible, set column size of your manuscript to 21 picas or 3 1/2 inches. Make sure to use a double column format. DO NOT USE SINGLE COLUMN FORMATTING.
• If sending CDs, package them to protect them in mailing.
• Include your valid email address, where proofs of the manuscript can be sent.

For the most accurate and efficient transferral of your manuscript, use TeX or LaTeX

• The IEEE LaTeX style file (IEEEtran.cls) can be obtained by e-mailing: help@ep.ieee.org or visiting the CTAN website: http://www.ctan.org/tex-archive/macros/latex/contrib/IEEEtran/. You can also download a pdf of instructions on how to use the IEEEtran class from the same page. If you are unable to send your manuscript using LaTex or Tex, submit your article as a .doc file using the IEEE template for Word files found on the following page: http://www.ieee.org/web/publications/authors/transjnl/index.html.

Things Not to Do:

• DO NOT put the files in a page layout software (Ventura, Quark, Pagemaker, FrameMaker).
• DO NOT use single column format
